Kiss Design’s managing director, Emma George, is not one to sit back and relax unless the sun’s gone down and the gin’s flowing. But this October was a busy month even by her standards! As well as the usual trials and tribulations caused by us in the office, Emma managed to get married and run a half-marathon for the British Heart Foundation (BHF)!
The Blenheim Palace Half Marathon is an annual event, and this year, Emma was one of over 3,000 people who took part in it. While Emma did the full half marathon, runners had the option to take part in a 10k route or a 2k fun run. Whatever the distance, all proceeds went to a good home: advanced medical research conducted by the BHF.
Heart disease is one of the UK’s biggest killers, responsible for almost 74,000 deaths per year. The BHF funds over 1,000 projects with the potential to shrink that number. Currently, they include a study on zebra fish (which can regenerate their own hearts), and an investigation into how stem cells can be used to heal heart attack patients.
Of course, Emma’s own heart will have benefitted from her strenuous act of charity – but given her tireless love of “gym-ing it” it was probably in pretty good shape already! And that’s great news given that October is also the month that Emma chose to get married, and go on honeymoon.
Ultimately, Emma’s October just proves something we’ve all always known: there’s no better reason to get hot and sweaty than affairs of the heart!
